Why Did You Decide to
Become a Dentist?

Dr. Zakhem received a lot of dentistry growing up—he ended up having to go through braces twice! After personally experiencing the benefits of great dental care, he knew he wanted to be able to help people in the same way.

Where Did You Study
Dentistry?

Dr. Zakhem began his dental career after graduating from Damascus University, and he practiced there and even volunteered with the Syrian Smiles Project before coming to the U.S. He went on to attend the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and performed so well that he earned an Academic Excellence Award and was invited to join Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the dental honor society reserved for the most accomplished students.

Today, Dr. Zakhem has certifications in Invisalign and Botox/fillers, and he has also received advanced training focused on dental implants (specifically computer-guided placement). He is an active member of the American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association, and Spear Education.

Outside of the Dental
Office, What Do You
Like to Do?

Dr. Zakhem is married to a fellow dentist (a pedodontist) who is also originally from Syria, and they enjoy spending time out with friends and exploring new places and restaurants. In his free time, he likes reading about ancient civilizations and learning new languages. To relax, you’ll often find him watching or playing soccer, table tennis, and pickleball.
